Blossoms and blooms

Just a couple of runs to report since the Paddy’s Day half. But of more interest has been the upswing in the weather. True, it is forecast to get cooler again next week, but the trend is positive. Can’t say the same for global politics, but let’s not spoil it, shall we. On Thursday, I managed a modest 6k plus with a saunter up by the lake before turning back towards the park. A reasonable pace of 5:46.

On Sunday morning, Gary and I had a reasonably early start (8am) and we clocked up 15k with a mostly canal-based run; a run we’re both familiar with. We made it as far as the old schoolhouse along the Deep Sinking. About 90 minutes, so closer to the 6 minute pace, but in fairness to Gary, he was doing a leg day on Friday, and then a swift parkrun on Saturday. I could still feel a little leg lethargy from Tuesday’s efforts, so we were both happy to finish, I reckon.

Later that afternoon, I had a potter up by the lake – this time on the wooded side where I venture for a swim when the great ball of gas in the sky does the decent thing and heats up the water. I didn’t bother dipping my toe, either metaphorically or literally, knowing that the immersion has yet to be switched on. But there was plenty of flora on show, with a promise of more to come. So below are a few pics from this recent outing.

But before that, a quick plug for a book I purchased recently, on the back of a very entertaining radio interview. I have yet to get stuck into it, but it comes with some rave reviews.

And last but definitely not least, congrats to Niall on is recent bike exploits. But I won’t steal his thunder as there must surely be a blog post incoming as we speak 😉
