"I was born in sixty-seven, the year of Sergeant Pepper, And Are You Experienced..." (© Porcupine Tree). I've decided to do an Iron Man race before I turn fifty. Not so much a rage against the dying of the light, as being slightly miffed at the brevity of the sunset. That, and I've noticed I'm holding jars at arm's length in order to read the labels.
We shall not fail or falter; we shall not weaken or tire. Neither the sudden shock of battle nor the long-drawn trials of vigilance and exertion will wear us down. Give us the tools and we will finish the job. Winston Churchill 9th February, 1941 Okay, a quote from Churchill is perhaps an odd way to start … More Give us the tools…
Time rolls on N’ that’s as it should be Here and gone Seems to move so quickly ‘Damn Good’ Dave Lee Roth The training has been okay this week. Plenty of miles on the clock. The above line was taken from an article recently by Irish Times columnist, Jennifer O’Connell. I don’t know much about her, save what I have gleaned from the pieces she has written for the magazine. It would appear the whole country has come down with some sort of head cold/sore throat/generic aches and pains. Tick as appropriate. But let’s be … More Happy… cough… New Year
Have a good one, wherever you are and whatever floats your boat. Hopefully see you all on the other side. Remember, it’s only one day 😉 Cheers, The Unironedman
Despite the demands of work (both jobs) and family life, training has managed to keep its end up. Last weekend saw another longish run, this time with Ciaran in the local park where I do most of my running. We clocked in over 23k in a nice steady time of around 2.26. For some reason … More It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…
So after a disappointing week where it felt a little frayed at the edges, the weekend closed off on a positive note. The mid-week runs had been a bit of struggle, the hill repeats were a horror show (‘Horrible Hills and Where To Find Them’ was going to be a blog post, but I moved … More Festina Lente
Training continues for the Donadea 50k though I am currently not ‘feeling the love’. And there’s not that much time to get back into the running groove. Still. Mustn’t grumble. All will be well.
