‘Twas a year ago to the day when I sat down at this computer and decided to start a blog.
The blog was triggered by a rather rash decision to do an ironman. Now what triggered that may require a few sessions on the couch, so we won’t go there. But certainly once that decision was taken, blogging about it seemed like a natural companion activity.
So the weekend here has continued hot and sultry. As I type, thunder is rolling across the Liffey valley. The rain has stayed away but it’s in the air; you can smell it.
The festival in Leixlip has passed too, not unlike the threat of rain. I’m not a big fan of the festival anymore. It used to be good, but it’s gone very threadbare of late. The pubs do well, but overall it needs a reboot.
Anyhow, this is just a quick post to wish you all a happy blogiversary, whatever you are up to. Thanks for stopping by and throwing the odd comment my way. It can be a long and lonely journey sometimes, this ironman lark, so it’s good to have you on board.
After the long spin on Saturday, I had a sluggish run on Sunday for 8.7k which took 55 minutes. As I say, sluggish! The following morning, Mark and I did about 8.3 in 50 minutes, which is a little livelier. It is still very warm, and we need a good heavy downpour at this stage to clear the air. In between, I managed a couple of short swims in my favourite local lake, which is really the Liffey, dammed. The walk I take is past a local castle and into the woods, and is a real treat.
Here are a few pics from one of those outings. As it’s a secluded spot, you can get in in your pelt, but I wouldn’t impose those graphic images on anyone; flowers and trees will have to do 😉
P.S. S just sent this pic from her phone, of me bobbing up and down in the lake. So it seems churlish not to include it…
Joyeux Anniversaire!
